Casino Board Moves To Accept Southern Tier Applications
Efforts to obtain state approval for a casino in the Southern Tier may move forward after the Gaming Facility Location Board gave its approval to a plan to request new applications.
The panel's action follows a December selection of a plan to establish a casino in the town of Tyre. The board chose the Lago Resort and Casino proposal in Seneca County over competing applications from developers in Broome and Tioga counties.
The possibility of seeking more applications in the Southern Tier will now be considered by the state Gaming Commission.
Tioga Downs owner Jeff Gural has indicated he wants another opportunity to seek a casino license for his town of Nichols property.
The owners of Traditions at the Glen, which also had sought a casino license, say they're now working with Gural to secure a license for the Tioga County site.
