Car Rams Fence, Slams into Tree at Seton Catholic Central
An out-of-control sedan raced through a fence and crashed into a tree at Seton Catholic Central High School on Binghamton's West Side.
Authorities say there were no serious injuries in the incident, which happened around 1 p.m. Wednesday.
The crash occurred on the east side of the school. The Honda Civic apparently was traveling northbound on Chestnut Street between Seminary Avenue and College Street when the driver lost control of the vehicle.
The car knocked down a section of the fence and careened several yards before striking the tree.
Witnesses initially reported the car was on fire but firefighters said what they say actually was steam from the vehicle's radiator.
The vehicle appeared to have been occupied by two teenage girls. Police said the driver said she experienced a medical issue prior to the crash. She was taken to a hospital to be evaluated.
