A one-time spot for burgers, fish platters and root beer floats in Vestal is about to open its doors for something different.

The operators of another Vestal Parkway cannabis dispensary are putting the finishing touches on the new business.

The former A&W/Long John Silver's restaurant is about to become a Canna Planet store. The eatery closed in June 2024.

Duane Phillips of Canna Planet said about eight people will initially be hired for the new dispensary, which will be open seven days a week.

Phillips told WNBF News the site will offer education to prospective customers from people who are "extremely knowledgeable" about the products that will be offered.

Phillips said the Canna Planet location at 1919 Vestal Parkway East is expected to be in operation by the end of the month.

The dispensary will operate a drive-up window for people who have placed an order in advance. It also will eventually offer a delivery service for customers.

The delivery and drive-up options won't be available when Canna Planet first opens. They'll be rolled out in the next several weeks.

The new Canna Planet store will be located one-half mile east of Sacred Bloom cannabis dispensary, which opened in July 2023.
