Cabot Oil Sues Susquehanna Co. Resident Over Fracking
The company that has been using the controversial hydraulic horizontal natural gas drilling or “fracking” in Susquehanna County, Pennsylvania for years is suing two law firms and a resident of Dimock over claims the drilling has contaminated water in the area.
The Associated Press reports Cabot Oil and Gas is seeking $5 million in damages against Ray Kemble and his lawyers, claiming they tried to extort the company and had filed a frivolous lawsuit.
Dimock, Pennsylvania became the center of the fracking controversy when it was featured in the Emmy Award-winning documentary “Gasland” in 2010 and many residents still contend the drilling activities have contaminated their water.
A Federal lawsuit filed against Cabot Oil and Gas had been withdrawn two months after being filed.
