Budget Hearings Begin for Broome County and City of Binghamton
Binghamton City Council is getting down to the business of going over Mayor Richard David’s latest proposed budget line-by-line with hearings set for the next several weeks.
The first is at 5 p.m. September 17 at the City Council Work Room at City Hall. Other meetings are September 24th and 26th and October 1 and 3, all at 5 p.m. The $94.7 million budget plan cuts residential taxes 1 percent.
As with his first budget proposals, Broome County Executive Jason Garnar is taking his plans to the people.
The proposal is being presented to municipalities by Garnar and members of his administration starting at 7:30 p.m. September 18 in the Village of Johnson City. The proposed 385-million dollar budget cuts the property tax levy by about a half percent.
