A 20-year-old Binghamton University student has died after she was found lying against the median of a lane of Route 434.

Authorities say Stefani Lineva of Queens was pronounced dead at Wilson Medical Center in Johnson City.

Binghamton police received a report of a person lying in the roadway near the Pennsylvania Avenue exit at 2:05 a.m. Saturday.

Officers found Lineva lying in the eastbound lane of the highway against a concrete lane divider.

Investigators say the woman had sustained injuries consistent with being struck by a vehicle.

Police are asking people who may have information about Lineva's whereabouts early Saturday morning to contact the detective bureau at 607.772.7080.

Detectives also want to speak with anyone who may have been traveling on Route 434 between the Pennsylvania Avenue exit and South Washington Street around 2 a.m.

Binghamton police are investigating Lineva's death with assistance from Binghamton University police and the Broome County Sheriff's Office.
