BU Pharmacy School Building Move-In Expected in June

Interior construction on the $60 million Binghamton University pharmacy school facility in Johnson City has been completed.

University President Harvey Stenger said some exterior work remains to be done on the 84,000-square-foot complex on Corliss Avenue.

Stenger said the general contractor on the project recently advised him things have been wrapped up on the inside. University representatives now will go through the place with a punch list to be sure the work meets specifications.

Speaking on WNBF Radio's Binghamton Now program, Stenger said pharmacy school faculty members are scheduled to move into the building in mid-June.

Crews now are busy with landscaping work around the five-and-a-half acre site.

Stenger said students in the first-year pharmacy class will shift from the Vestal campus to the new building this summer.

The university president said the opening of the complex and future school developments for the Health Sciences Campus will be "transformational" for the village of Johnson City.

Stenger said nearly 1,000 students will be studying at the new campus in about four years.
