BU Basketball Sweep Double Header
After a four-game road trip, the BU men's basketball team came home to play their first game of the season in the Events Center. Coming off a loss against Columbia, Binghamton was looking to turn things around on their home floor.
Sacred Heart came out on fire from deep early in the game, jumping out to a 14-0 lead. They cooled off and went 6-16 from the three-point range. Three of those deep balls came from Koreem Ozier who had 13 points on 5-9 shooting. Kinnon LaRose scored six points while Aaron Clarke tallied five. Collectively, they put up 34 points in the first half.
The Bearcats, unfortunately, didn't have as hot a start as they trailed by as much as 14 in the opening minutes. However, Binghamton managed to hit its stride and close the gap. George Tinsley played a big part in that with his 11 first-half points to go with four boards. Sam Sessoms tallied seven points and Richard Caldwell Jr chipped in five. As a team, they scored 33 points to cut the deficit to one going into halftime.
Cameron Parker would lead the way for Sacred Heart in the second half as he ended the game with 23 points, eight rebounds and six assists on 53 percent shooting. Koreem Ozier poured in 16 points as well. Two other Pioneers finished with double digits in scoring. E.J Anosike was a glass cleaner, snagging 15 rebounds. As a whole, the team ended with 72 points.
Binghamton's Sam Sessoms had an outstanding performance in the second half. He had a double-double, totaling 27 points and 12 rebounds with six assists. George Tinsley added 21 points while snatching up 12 boards as well. Three other Bearcats chipped in with six points apiece. It was a total team effort as they scored 76 points to get their first win of the season and sweep the basketball doubleheader. Next week, the men will be on the road once again as they will play NJIT on November 20.
