Broome County has passed the mark of over 50,000 residents vaccinated against the coronavirus and officials expect that number will skyrocket in April and more doses of all three approved vaccines become available.

Broome is currently above the New York State vaccination rate of 23% with 27% percent of Binghamton-area residents having been given at least their first dose. 11% of New Yorkers are reported to be fully vaccinated.

Yesterday, New York State announced over seven-million doses of COVID vaccine had been administered with new mass vaccination clinics ready to start operation.  The latest state-run location for shots in the Southern Tier will open at Corning Community College in Steuben County while a center at SUNY Oneonta is also opening Friday, March 19.  The centers are open by appointment from 8am to 7 p.m.

Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf says over 3,840,000 coronavirus vaccines have been administered so far in the Keystone State.  Like New York, Pennsylvania is also posting a 23% first-dose vaccination rate and 11% fully vaccinated.

President Biden has announced a goal of having the vaccine available to every adult who wants it by May.
