Broome Transit Bus Crashes on Riverside Drive

No serious injuries are reported following a crash involving a BC Transit bus and a pickup truck on Riverside Drive in the area of Lourdes Hospital in Binghamton July 5.

The bus driver was taken to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries in the 6:30 p.m. crash near the intersection of Beethoven Street.

The bus was not carrying any passengers. The driver of the truck and a passenger were not hurt.

Both vehicles apparently were traveling east on Riverside Drive when the pickup was executing a left turn and was hit by the bus which then continued to knock over a fire hydrant and plow into a tree.

The scene was cleared about two hours after the crash.

Broome County Transit officials are expected to conduct their own review of the incident.
