Governor Cuomo has announced assistance for several counties hit by flooding during the summer of 2013.

According to the governor's office, the state will pay the local share of the public assistance program overseen by the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

Many upstate communities sustained significant damage as a result of flooding in late June and early July last year.

The federal government agreed to pay three-quarters of the cost of certain recovery projects while local governments were to be responsible for the rest of the bill. Now, the state is assuming the local share.

Among the other counties expected to receive the financial help from the state are Chenango, Cortland and Delaware.
