Broome Student Athletes See Their Names in Lights

The student athletes of Broome County who were robbed of their senior seasons are being honored with their names in lights.

The Forum Theater in Binghamton is posting photos and bios of athletes on the lit marquee each evening from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. starting June 3. 

Broome County officials say they were looking for a positive initiative to make note of at least some of what students have lost with the sudden cancellation of face-to-face education and activities by the coronavirus pandemic in March and came up with the Southern Tier Athlete Recognition or “STAR” initiative.

School districts are providing the featured athlete photos and bios to be put in lights.
