Broome Reports COVID Death/Bradford Posts Big Jump in Cases
Broome County reports another person has died as a result of the coronavirus pandemic. A woman in her 80s passed away bringing Broome’s death toll to 331. Broome County’s total cases of COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic stands at 16,639.
All other counties in the Southern Tier have seen their death tolls remain steady while Cortland County even reported no new cases from Sunday.
Chenango County reported 53 new cases from Friday, April 9 for a total of 2,987. There have been 68 deaths. Cortland’s case number remains the same as the April 11 report at 4,132 and 62 deaths. Delaware County reports 31 additional cases for a total of 2,140 with 31 deaths. Tioga county added 18 cases from the April 10 report for a total of 3,373. There have been 72 deaths.
In Pennsylvania, where the eligibility for receiving a vaccine expands to anyone over the age of 16 starting April 13, Bradford County in the Northern Tier has showed an enormous jump in the number of coronavirus infections over the past week (April 5-April 12) with over 230 new cases and one death. Bradford County has lost 85 residents to the pandemic. It has now surpassed 5,000 cases at 5,187. Susquehanna had 86 new cases for a total of 2,149 and no additional deaths for a total of 57 lives lost while Wayne County had 127 new cases and lost three more residents last week. Wayne now reports a total of 3,560 cases since the start of the pandemic and 75 deaths.
