While the daily rate of new coronavirus infections is slowing, the total number of cases continues to grow with Broome County crossing another mile marker in the pandemic.

Broome now reports more than 18,000 residents have tested positive for COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic in mid-March of 2020.  In the Thursday, May 27 update, Broome reported 18,005 total cases. The County added another fatality on Wednesday, May 26 for a total of 346.

Chenango County added two cases on Thursday, May 27 for a total of 3,458. There was another death reported for a total of 77.

Cortland County added 13 cases for a total of 4,528. There have been 63 deaths.

Delaware County is apparently no longer providing its own updates with its last report posted on May 20.

Tioga County added five cases in the May 27 report for a total of three-thousand, 844. There have been 78 deaths.

New York State reports its lowest statewide positivity rate since August 27 at .65%. The state has had 52 consecutive days of declining infection rates.  Still, 1,055 new cases were reported May 27 and ten more New Yorkers had died.
