According to a statement from the Mayor’s office, the Legislature August 16 voted down the proposed sale of the site and associated parcels as the city has received information on potential developers who had not gotten the chance to present proposals.

Broome County Executive Jason Garnar recently announced plans to sell the Phillips Foundry and associated properties for demolition, clearing the plot for development.

Mayor Richard David objected, saying City Hall had not been fully included in discussions and had already heard from parties possibly interested in the properties.

August 16, the Mayor sent a letter to Legislative Chairman Daniel Reynolds that included correspondence from DiRenzo Brothers Construction and the Binghamton Rescue Mission concerning property purchases in the Brandywine Corridor that had not been included in the purchase proposal placed by the County Executive.
