The Broome County Industrial Development Agency plans to hold a public hearing next week in connection with a Vestal nursing home project.

The companies that are working to build a facility on Sheedy Road, just west of Route 26, are seeking a tax break from the agency.

The nursing home would replace the flood-damaged Vestal Park Rehabilitation and Nursing Center that had been located on Vestal Road, a few miles away from the proposed site for the new project.

The IDA had scheduled a public hearing on a payment-in-lieu-of-taxes proposal for April but that hearing was canceled.

The agency now has announced a hearing at the Vestal town hall. It's to be held Tuesday at 7 p.m.

Some people who live near the project site have expressed concerns about potential flooding and traffic issues
