Woof! Broome Dog Park Now Open at Otsiningo North
The much-anticipated Broome County dog park in the town of Chenango has opened.
The new canine recreational facility is located at the north end of Otsiningo Park.
County Executive Jason Garnar said many Broome residents had requested a dog park.
County officials said the total cost of the facility was $95,000 with $25,000 of that coming from a grant provided by PetSafe. Broome County was one of five communities that received the most votes in an online contest sponsored by the company.
The dog park has a pair of fenced-in areas with one designated for large dogs and the other specifically for use by smaller canines.
The facility also has gates at an entry point to permit owners to safely remove leashes before their dogs go for a romp in the park.
There are walking paths, benches, trees, water bowls and clean-up stations.
The dog park is open daily from 8 a.m. to dusk. It's located just east of Interstate 81. It can be accessed from Howell Drive, which is off Front Street in the town of Chenango.
