Broome County’s Third Day of Adding to COVID Death Toll
In making his 2022 budget presentation, Broome County Executive Jason Garnar acknowledged the challenges of the past 18-months with the coronavirus pandemic and promised to maintain critical services.
Meanwhile, the public health crisis is continuing with a new surge in COVID-19 cases over the past couple of months and an almost daily increase in deaths attributed to the virus. Again September 16, Broome announced another fatality, bringing the county death toll to 369. Broome reported three new cases on Monday, September 13, two on Wednesday, September 15 and one September 16.
Tioga County also had another death bringing fatalities there to 66.
Broome had 94 new cases to report on September 16 and said there were 710 active cases. Chenango County reports 12 new cases with 200 active cases in the county. Cortland added 37 cases and said it had 223 active infections. Tioga County had 15 new cases reported on Thursday, September 16. Delaware County updates its numbers on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
