
Search Warrants Lead To Firearm And Drug Seizures In Binghamton
According to a report released by Sergeant John Zikuski of the Binghamton Police Department, the Broome County Special Investigations Unit Task Force conducted two search warrants recently with assistance from the Binghamton Police Community Response Team.
A search warrant was conducted at 20 Rutherford Street, Binghamton, on Tuesday, July 8th, 2025. During the search warrant, investigators found a loaded .380 caliber handgun, approximately 15.8 grams of fentanyl, approximately 11.8 grams of methamphetamine, approximately 4.8 grams of cocaine, $301 of the suspect's drug proceeds, and items used for packaging and weighing narcotics.

Five people were arrested and processed on various charges according to the report from the Broome County Special Investigations Unit Task Force.
Michael McCary of Binghamton was charged with:
- Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd degree (1 count)
- Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd degree (1 count)
- Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd degree (5 counts)
- Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 4th degree (1 count)
- Tampering with Physical Evidence (1 count)
- Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th degree (1 count)
- Criminal Use of Drug Paraphernalia 2nd degree (2 counts)
Rashee Shuler from Binghamton was charged with:
- Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd degree (1 count)
- Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd degree (1 count)
- Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th degree (1 count)
- Criminal Use of Drug Paraphernalia 2nd degree (2 counts)
Elizabeth Reid of Hallstead, Pennsylvania, was charged with:
- Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd degree (1 count)
- Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd degree (1 count)
- Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th degree (1 count)
Amanda Goodwin from Castle Creek was charged with:
- Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd degree (1 count)
- Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd degree (1 count)
- Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th degree (1 count)
Arijana Makic of Johnson City was charged with:
- Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd degree (1 count)
- Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th degree (1 count)
The second search warrant happened on Friday, July 11th, 2025, at 64 Holland Street, Binghamton. During this search warrant, investigators found a loaded 9mm handgun, a loaded .380 caliber handgun, approximately 10.8 grams of crack cocaine, approximately 16.5 grams of cocaine, plus items used for packaging, cutting, and weighing narcotics.
The investigation resulted in two persons being arrested and processed on several charges:
Christopher Johnson from Binghamton was charged with:
- Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd degree (2 counts)
- Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd degree (2 counts)
- Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd degree (3 counts)
- Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 4th degree (1 count)
- Criminal Use of Drug Paraphernalia 2nd degree (3 counts)
George Smith of Manhattan, New York, was charged with:
- Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd degree (2 counts)
- Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd degree (2 counts)
- Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd degree (3 counts)
- Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 4th degree (1 count)
- Criminal Use of Drug Paraphernalia 2nd degree (3 counts)
All individuals are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. The Broome County Special Investigations Unit Task Force is comprised of members of the Broome County Sheriff’s Office, the City of Binghamton Police Department, the Village of Johnson City Police Department, and the Village of Endicott Police Department.
