The Small Community Fund is helping local governments and organizations make investments they couldn’t otherwise. Enhancements to public safety, infrastructure upgrades, and improving recreation have all been made possible with this fund. I appreciate the commitment of the Broome County Legislature to this program which has had impacts on every corner of the county. - Broome County Executive Jason Garnar
According to the Broome County Department of Planning & Economic Development, the Small Community Fund was created in 2018. Over 150 projects have been supported throughout Broome County, including new space for GiGi’s Playhouse, food pantry expansions, equipment for playgrounds and ADA accessibility at multiple parks, trail enhancements at Wolfe Park, and expansion of facilities at Mercy House.
Applications are now being accepted that meet the criteria. The fund is intended to help smaller communities with projects that may not be eligible for alternate funding sources. For more information on Broome County’s Comprehensive Plan, details can be found here.
Applications are due by 4 P.M. April 9, 2025, via email, communitygrants@broomecountyny.gov, or mail addressed to PO Box 1766, Broome County Office Building, Binghamton, N.Y. 13902.
