Authorities say a man was being held in Broome County Jail after he allegedly killed his sister's dog.

Investigators say 19-year-old Kobe Hanns of Conklin was charged with aggravated cruelty to animals, a felony.

According to New York State Police, troopers were sent to a Stillwater Road residence following a 911 call reporting a dog had been shot outside the home.

Troopers determined there had been a dispute between Hanns and his sister because her four-year-old pit bull had urinated inside.

Police say Hanns had threatened to kill the dog. He then allegedly took the pet outside and fired his shotgun at the animal, killing it.

Hanns was arraigned in Conklin town court and sent to jail without bail.
