Do you have some upcoming business at one of our local New York State Department of Motor Vehicles locations? Maybe you're upgrading that license to a Real ID or maybe an Enhanced ID, so you can travel by air to some warmer vacation destination.

Whatever your business may be at the DMV (oh, that rhymes!), you may want to avoid a few dates due to a temporary closure.

Local DMV Locations To Temporarily Close

According to an announcement today, Tuesday, February 3, 2026, from Broome County Clerk Aaron Martin, the Binghamton and Endicott DMV offices, along with the mobile DMV, will soon be in the process of a software system update.

The update is designed to improve customer service and streamline operations for both customers and DMV staff.

Timeline For Temporary Closures

Due to that update, services will be suspended over Presidents’ Day weekend. The Binghamton and Endicott offices will close at 1 p.m Friday, February 13th, 2026. The mobile DMV will not be in operation on that day. Statewide, the New York State DMV online and phone services will be unavailable as well.

The Binghamton and Endicott DMV offices are scheduled to resume services at 12 Noon, Wednesday, February 18th, 2026. Broome County Clerk Aaron Martin notes that the mobile DMV will remain suspended, with an expected resumption of service the following week.

This new and improved software system will better equip our DMV staff in serving customers to the highest standard and we’re looking forward to tracking the results. Our DMV staff have completed all new software training modules. However, with every new system, customers may experience minor delays in the days immediately following the launch and we respectfully ask for patience as our DMV staff work closely with New York State to successfully adjust to the new system. - Broome County Clerk Aaron Martin
