The Broome County New York DEA Drug Take Back Day Is This Saturday
Do you have old medications lying around the house, and don't know what to do with them? Don't throw them away in your garbage; instead, take advantage of the DEA Drug Takeback Day.
The Broome County Sheriff's Office and the Broome County Health Department have scheduled a drug takeback day as part of the nationwide DEA National Prescription Takeback Drug program.
From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 26th (2025), Broome County residents will have the opportunity to turn in expired and unused prescription medications for proper disposal. There will be six locations throughout the county for drop-off points.
The Sheriff's Office and Health Department ask that persons who stop in to dispose of the medications keep them in their original containers with the label intact. It is okay to blacken out the person's name on the prescription.
All medications, ointments, and sprays will be accepted, except for sharps, during Take Back Day. For information to dispose of sharps safely, visit the Broome County website.
Drop off medications Saturday, April 26th, no questions asked, at the following locations:
- Broome County Sheriff’s Office – 155 Lt. VanWinkle Drive in Binghamton
