Broome County Cancels COVID Clinics as J&J Vaccines are Paused
Broome County officials say they are cancelling the Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 clinics at SUNY Broome Community College immediately as the administration of the vaccine has been paused nationwide.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the U.S. Food and Drug administration April 13 announced very rare instances of blood clots in a few recipients of the one-dose vaccine and called a halt to providing the shots.
The SUNY Broome clinics April 13 & 14 and Canceled and the pop-up clinic at American Legion Post 1700 in West Endicott April 14 is also canceled.
Broome County officials will evaluate other clinics that were scheduled to use the J&J/Janssen dose.
The joint statement from the CDC and FDA said it was investigating clots in six women in days after receiving the vaccine, in combination with reduced platelet counts.

Broome County still has hundreds of appointments open for the first-dose Pfizer vaccine at the Broome County P.O.D. (Point of Distribution) at the Ice Center on April 16, 19 and 20.
