Broome County Accused Sex Offender’s Body Found

Broome County Sheriff's investigators are looking into the cause of death of a Chenango Bridge man whose badly decomposed body was found in the woods off Airport Road in the Town of Chenango Saturday morning.

55 year old accused sex offender, Paul Terwilliger had been reported missing since May, shortly after he was released from the Broome County Jail after posting bail.

Terwilliger was charged in April with course of sexual conduct against a child for allegedly having sexual contact with a child under the age of 11.

The body was found by hunters on the opening day of big game season in the Southern Tier.

Officials say they had seen an apparent suicide note written by Terwilliger but have not elaborated on the note's content.

An autopsy is planned to determine the cause of death.
