There may be a long-term detour in store for motorists in part of Susquehanna County.

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation says State Route 374 between State Route 2034 and State Route 2077 in Herrick Township is closed for bridge repairs.

The stretch of road was shut down January 26 and PennDOT has not listed an expected date for completion of the work.

Eastbound traffic will be directed onto Route 106 then wind around onto Routes 247and 171 before ending up at the intersection of Routes 374 and 171.

Westbound traffic will detour onto 171 South and proceed to use Routes 247 and 106 before the detour ends at the intersection of Route 374 and Route 106.

Here is the text of the notification from PennDOT:

SR 374 between SR 2034 and SR 2077 Herrick Township in Susquehanna County is closed beginning January 26 to make bridge repairs. The date of reopening is to be determined.  The detour is as follows:

 

Traveling East on Route 374:

  • Turn right onto Route 106 East;
  • Continue on Route 106 East for 5.1 miles;
  • Turn left onto Route 247 North;
  • Continue on Route 247 North for 8.4 miles;
  • Turn left onto Route 171 North;
  • Continue on Route 171 North for 6.6 miles; and
  • The detour will end at the intersection of Route 374 and Route 171.

 

Traveling West on Route 371 toward Route 374:

  • Turn left onto Route 171 South;

  • Continue on Route 171 South for 6.6 miles;

  • Turn right onto Route 247 South;

  • Continue on Route 247 South for 8.4 miles;

  • Turn right onto Route 106 West;

  • Continue on Route 106 West for 5.1 miles; and

  • The detour will end at the intersection of Route 374 and Route 106.
