Two people have been arrested in connection with a shooting incident on Binghamton's South Side.

Authorities say a 15-year-old boy has been charged with attempted murder following an investigation. 20-year-old Tariq Johnson has been charged with two counts of criminal possession of a weapon in the case.

Police were called to the area of Saratoga Avenue and Delmar Street around 9 p.m. Wednesday to investigate a reported shooting.

People in the area reported hearing between two and four gunshots. Detectives recovered .45 caliber shell casings at the scene.

An investigator said a teenager who was the intended target was not injured.

Johnson was taken into custody shortly after the incident during a traffic stop on the city's West Side. The teenager was tracked down later at a residence in Broome County outside Binghamton.

The youth, whose name was not released, was being held at an Albany-area juvenile facility to await further court action.
