Speaking on the November 3rd edition of the Southern Tier Close Up on WNBF, Fundraising Coordinator for the Humane Society in Binghamton, Laura Melville talked with host, Kathy Whyte about new BOGO, buy one, get one, coupon books now available to raise funds for the local animal shelter.

Melville says over 40 locally owned restaurants jumped at the chance to offer buy one, get one or half price coupons to help the dogs and cats.

The cost of the coupon book is $20 with all of the proceeds going to the Humane Society and its partner animal rescue groups.

Books are available at participating restaurants as well as at the Humane Society at 2 Jackson Street, Binghamton. Books can also be ordered through the Humane Society website www.bchumanesoc.com.

Melville also discussed such topics as keeping pets healthy and safe during the holidays, the debate over whether it's a good idea to give a pet as a gift and if the holiday season is a good time to introduce a pet into the family.

Southern Tier Close Up is heard every Saturday afternoon at 12:10 on NewsRadio 1290 WNBF.
