Why Bob Joseph Makes the Drive Every Time for McCoy’s Chophouse
I've known Jim McCoy for years. I've had many a great meal at the iconic Number 5 and Lampy's restaurants, and now I can't emphasize enough the quality dining experiences that await you at Jim's new restaurant — McCoy's Chophouse in Endicott.
The location brings back many great memories from when I lived just a few blocks away in the Union District neighborhood.
Their menu is the best of Number 5 and Lampy's — the best steakhouse menu in the Southern Tier plus a great Italian section. It's all rounded out with handcrafted cocktails, fine wines and quality spirits; they offer both lounge and dinner menus. This new restaurant brings back wonderful memories of good times and wonderful meals at Jim's former restaurants.
I know, I know, you may think Endicott is a bit of a drive, but I can assure you it's really not that far, especially when you're looking forward to perfectly cooked salmon, steak, chicken saltimbocca, haddock sandwich, honey horseradish shrimp ... you get the idea.
The food and service is the finest in Upstate New York. The kitchen is run by veterans from Number 5 and Lampy's, and new servers undergo two weeks of intensive training, complete with six quizzes, and management takes customer comments seriously. Managers, bussers, hosts, bartenders, maintenance, dishwashers — all the staff — know they are crucial to the restaurant's success and are committed to top-notch service.
