According to reports by the Associated Press this February was the coldest in recorded history in Binghamton.  In an article written by the Associated Press and appearing in the New York Post and on ABC News the Northeast Regional Climate Center at Cornell University confirms that Binghamton had its coldest month of February ever recorded.  The average daily temperature was 12.2 degrees in Binghamton.  Other Upstate New York cities also set records.  Syracuse averaged daily temperatures of 9 degrees.  Buffalo averaged 10.9 degrees and Ithaca averaged 10.2 degrees.

Syracuse and Ithaca each recorded 14 days in February where the temperature was zero or below...also a February record.  Other record-setting readings in February include 20.9 degrees in Harrisburg, Pa and 16.1 degrees in Hartford, Conn.

Record February snowfall was reported in Boston with 64.8 inches measured.  The new amount smashed the old mark of 41.6 inches. That brings the total winter snowfall to 102 inches.  Providence, Rhode Island had 31.8 inches of snow last month and brings the winter total to close to 60 inches which is twice the normal amount.
