How to Get a Brick from “Birthplace of IBM” in Endicott, New York

People who want to hold on to a piece of Endicott history will have an opportunity to take a brick at a special event to be held near the IBM demolition site.

Workers have been busy for nearly five months tearing down several unused structures in what's been designated the "Old IBM Building Group" on the Huron Campus along North Street.

Endicott officials have announced something they're calling "Brick Day." They say it is an opportunity for "all residents, former employees of the campus, history enthusiasts, and families to participate in this moment of reflection and celebration."

According to a news release, as "the village moves forward with renewal and revitalization, it remains committed to honoring its past"

The bricks which will be available Wednesday on a first-come, first-served basis were "salvaged from former community and industrial buildings."

The news release indicated it will be "a chance for residents to keep a tangible piece of the village's architectural and cultural legacy."

The brick giveaway will be held in a Huron Campus parking lot behind the "Clock Tower" building. It will take place Wednesday from noon to 2 p.m.

People may enter the parking lot from North Street via Adams Avenue. They may exit the lot on Monroe Street via Roosevelt Avenue.
