Binghamton’s Ross Park Zoo Gets New AED

Visitors to Binghamton’s Ross Park Zoo have a new degree of health peace of mind.

The zoo has received an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) through a grant from the John Mack Foundation.

Ross Park Zoo executive director, Jacqueline Peeler says having the emergency cardiac device is especially appreciated given the hilly location of the zoo on the South side, which can be a challenge for some visitors.

The zoo also has a Public Access Defibrillation program that includes a collaborative agreement with a licensed doctor and ambulance service and staff trained under the American Red Cross and American Safety and Health Institute.

In addition to the new AED, the unit includes a set of pediatric pads, a rescue kit and a wall cabinet to house the unit.
