Binghamton Mayor Richard David is calling on federal officials to oppose tax reform legislation that eliminates the federal income tax deduction for state and local taxes.

The Republican says homeowners would be hard-hit if the deduction is eliminated.

The State and Local Tax Deduction amounts to $2,610 on average for Broome County residents.

David is a member of the New York Conference of Mayors Executive Committee which has come out against President Donald Trump’s tax reform plan.

Mayor David is encouraging residents to call or write Senators Charles Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand and Congresswoman Claudia Tenney.
