Developers of a massive residential and commercial project on Binghamton's West Side have announced an opening date for the complex.

Monthly rent rates for some of the 122 apartments in the building at 50 Front Street could exceed $2,600.

Newman Development Group of Vestal had hoped the $31 million project would be completed by the end of this year. Although construction is nearing completion, the work is going to continue into the new year.

Monthly rents for some of the apartments are listed at between $2,048 and $2,639 on the leasing website for the complex. Actual prices will vary based on move-in dates and lease terms.

Newman Development representatives were not immediately available to comment on how many of the residential units have been leased.

In addition to the residential space, commercial and office tenants are being sought for the ground level of the building.

Maureen Wilson of Pyramid Brokerage Company said "it's beautiful space." She said "we have some viable prospects" who are considering the site.

The project is rising on property where a seven-story Sheraton Inn once stood.
