Binghamton Youth Center Plans Get $1 Million Boost

A million dollars is coming to the City of Binghamton to help the Parlor City create a comprehensive youth center.

U.S. Senators Charles Schumer (D-NY) and Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY) have announced funding under the bipartisan omnibus spending package for this fiscal year.

Binghamton Mayor Jared Kraham says the money will help the city explore options for a unique, centrally-located recreation center for children and families.

In a release from Senator Schumer’s office, City County President Phil Strawn is quoted as saying the money will help “augment assets already in place” for the plan.

The Democrat Senators say the funds will allow Binghamton to expand youth programming, boost recreational and after school opportunities with the development of a full-service gathering place for young people and families.
