Binghamton Woman Hurt in Home Invasion Robbery
Police are seeking two men in connection with a home invasion robbery that left a woman injured in Binghamton.
Authorities say the incident happened Sunday evening on the city's South Side.
A woman who lives in an apartment at 80 Pennsylvania Avenue called 911 to report the home invasion around 8:05 p.m.
Detective Captain John Ryan said the woman and two young children were home when two men posing as utility workers forced their way into the apartment.
Ryan said the woman sustained some bruises and contusions as a result of a struggle with the men. She was bound with duct tape. The children were not hurt.
Some property was taken by the intruders, one of whom was armed with a handgun.
Ryan said the suspects were described as black, in their early to mid-twenties. They were between five feet, seven-inches and five feet, ten inches tall. Both wore all black clothing, orange-colored construction safety vests and white construction helmets. Their faces were covered with masks.
Ryan said investigators are treating the case as a targeted home invasion. He said it's not known whether the men used a vehicle to leave the area.
