A Binghamton woman was sent to jail after a Broome County sheriff's deputy spotted her operating a vehicle that had been reported stolen.

Authorities say 33-year-old MaryAnn Zupo of Walnut Street was driving on Lake Avenue around two o'clock this morning.

A sheriff's deputy checked the vehicle registration and discovered it was listed as stolen from Delaware County.

Police say as the deputy pulled up to the vehicle, the driver ran away.

A second deputy took Zupo into custody a short time later.

Zupo was charged with criminal possession of stolen property involving a motor vehicle, a felony. She also was charged with aggravated unlicensed operation.

Zupo was arraigned in Chenango town court and sent to Broome County Jail without bail.
