Bomb Squad Called to Binghamton West Side Residence
A Binghamton man was arrested after two incendiary devices were found at a home across the street from Seton Catholic Central High School.
24-year-old Isaiah O'Brien was taken into custody after police were sent to 83 Seminary Avenue on the city's West Side.
Authorities said officers were dispatched to the single-family residence just before 3:30 p.m. Tuesday after a family member discovered a suspicious item.
After assessing the situation, officers requested assistance in properly disposing of a couple of incendiary devices. The Endicott Police Department bomb squad responded as a precaution.
Two members of the bomb squad removed the items after a short time.
According to police, O'Brien was charged with two felony counts of third-degree criminal possession of a weapon. He was arraigned in Binghamton City Court Wednesday morning.
City police units were on the scene for more than two hours.
Classes at Seton Catholic Central High School are scheduled to start in two weeks. Sports practices at the school were not disrupted by the police activity.
