For months, motorists traveling along the two-and-a-half mile Vestal Parkway work zone have been faced with lengthy delays and changing traffic patterns.

The Greenway will provide a link between Murray Hill Road on the east side of the Binghamton University campus and Pennsylvania Avenue on Binghamton's South Side.

Preliminary site work for the project started in November 2020. According to the  DOT, the substantial completion date for the job is May of next year.

The cost of the Greenway has been increasing. The price tag initially was put at something under $20 million. The contract award cost was listed as $22.2 million.

The state now reports more than $3 million in cost increases have been approved for the project.
