Temperatures are dropping, and road construction is winding down, but there are still projects happening throughout the Southern Tier of New York that you should be aware of. Road work schedules can change at any time.

Remember to slow down in road work/construction areas. Let's keep everyone safe - the road crew, other motorists, and of course you and your passengers.

Binghamton Area

  • Monday, October 20, between the weeknight hours of 7 p.m. and 6 a.m., Interstate 81 southbound will be reduced to one lane starting at Exit 13; and State Route 17 eastbound will be reduced to one lane beginning at Exit 72. The lane reductions will extend to the State Route 7 (Brandywine Expressway) overpass in the City of Binghamton, Broome County, and will continue for approximately two weeks to facilitate pavement repairs.
  • Work continues on Washington Street from Henry Street to Clinton Street.
  • Roadwork on US 11, both directions area of Moeller Street, Binghamton, one right lane of two lanes blocked for culvert cleaning & inspection of culverts on US 11 near Moeller Street and Court Street pump house through October 25th between 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Roadwork on Route 7 in both directions between Carlin Road in Conklin and Powers Road. One alternate lane of two lanes is blocked for culvert replacement on Route 7 over Carlin Creek between Carlin Road and Powers Road through October 21st, between the hours of 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Johnson City

  • October 20 and 21 - paving of the final layer of asphalt roadway on North Harrison Street, Fairfax Avenue, Miller Street, part of Harry L Drive, and the surrounding areas. Traffic will be limited to local traffic only. There will be road closures at times with traffic control and delays. Access to driveways will also be affected once the paving process begins on each particular road. All parked cars must be removed from working locations by 6 a.m. on both days. Resident vehicles will be allowed to park on the road from the end of the workday until 6 a.m. the following morning. Vehicles may be towed at the owner’s expense.

Broome County Highway Work

  • Milling and paving Broome County Airport Road, County Route 069, between Harry L. Drive & East Maine Road/Lewis Road intersections
  • Cleaning ditches and rebuilding shoulders on Hale Eddy Road, Oquaga Lake Road, Trim Street & Caldwell Hill Road
  • Culvert work on Trim Street, Taft Avenue & Powers Road
  • Mowing right-of-way on several county roads
  • Roadwork on US 11, both directions in Whitney Point between Main Street and Keibel Road, one alternate lane of two lanes blocked at various times for bridge reconstruction, curbing, and drainage work through July 31, 2026.

Tioga County Highway Work

  • Roadwork on NY Route 17, both directions between Exit 65 - NY 434; Ramp Owego and Town of Owego; Town of Vestal Line Owego - one alternate lane of two lanes blocked through November 1st between the hours of 7 a.m. and 5 p.m.
