Binghamton Residents May Offer Suggestions for “Stadium District”
The city of Binghamton is seeking comment from people interested in the development of a master plan to improve the neighborhood around the downtown stadium.
The proposed "Stadium District" would encompass an area between Court Street and the railroad tracks. It would run from Chenango Street on the west to Liberty Street on the east.
The economic development that some officials had anticipated after the stadium opened in 1992 has not materialized.
Mayor Richard David said the new initiative will seek "to create a more vibrant neighborhood and business district."

The master plan is expected to guide development in the area around the stadium to provide housing and infrastructure improvements.
Whitham Planning & Design of Ithaca has been hired to develop the master plan. The project is expected to cost $100,000.
The online survey will be conducted through June 8. The link to the survey is: surveymonkey.com/r/BingSDMP.
