Residents across the Twin Tiers on Wednesday will look back on the terrorist attacks on the United States twelve years ago.

Ceremonies and events are planned to remember those who died and those who were injured on September 11, 2001.

In Binghamton, a brief remembrance program is planned outside City Hall.

Mayor Matthew Ryan will host the event at 8:45 Wednesday morning at the 9/11 Memorial near entrance to city fire department headquarters on State Street.

At 8:46, the time of the first attack on the World Trade Center in Manhattan, there will be a flag raising by the fire department color guard. A memorial wreath will be placed on the monument, followed by a moment of silence.

The Binghamton remembrance ceremony will be open to the public.
