
Man Wanted for Murder in Endicott in Custody After Standoff
UPDATE: 24-year-old Nathanial Williams III was taken into custody after a standoff at 68 Thorp Street in Binghamton.
Police said Williams had been wanted on an arrest warrant issued in Endicott for second-degree murder. The standoff ended without incident around 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Williams was taken to the Broome County Jail for processing.

A neighborhood on Binghamton's West Side was closed to traffic and pedestrians for a police operation.
Thorp Street between Jarvis and Perry streets was shut down early Tuesday afternoon as a SWAT team was deployed outside a single-family residence.
The scene of the police activity was east of the Popeyes and Wendy's fast food restaurants located on Main Street.
Officers gathered at an armored SWAT vehicle that was parked in front of the house at 68 Thorp Street.
Several bangs were heard as police fired through windows of the house. SWAT team members wearing protective gear were scene entering the house from the front porch.
A distraught woman pleaded with officers to allow her to retrieve her dog from inside the residence. The woman, who said there were no weapons in the home, expressed fear the pet would be harmed during the police operation.
Police indicated no injuries had been reported. Detective Captain Cory Minor declined to comment on the situation. Police Chief Joseph Zikuski also was said to be at the scene but he was not available to discuss why the SWAT team was called out.
