Police are looking for two armed masked men who were involved in a daytime incident at a home in Binghamton's First Ward.

A possible burglary in progress was reported by a person near a residence at 73 Jarvis Street. The call came in around 1:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Initial reports indicated two men were involved in the incident. One of the men reportedly displayed a gun.

Patrol officers arrived at the scene moments later. By that time, a witness said the suspects had raced away from the area in a sport utility vehicle.

City police and a Broome County sheriff's deputy stopped a vehicle that matched a general description of a large black SUV believed to have been involved. The driver was questioned at Front and Prospect streets before being sent on his way.

Detectives were conducting interviews in the area of Jarvis and Field streets to try to determine the sequence of events in the incident.
