Binghamton Police Probe Another Church Burglary
A second Binghamton church has lost property and sustained damage as the result of a break-in.
The latest burglary occurred at The Landmark Church at 126 Court Street. The break-in happened four days after a similar incident was reported at another downtown church.
Pastor Daniel Little said The Landmark Church was entered after a small window on the back of the building was broken. He said some things inside the church were smashed by an intruder who wound up taking only a small flat-screen television.
The Court Street church is located just east of the Security Mutual Building. It's about a block away from the United Presbyterian Church on Chenango Street, which was burglarized last week.
Binghamton police detective Captain John Ryan said the latest break-in was discovered by an officer doing a building check around 2:40 Tuesday morning.
Ryan said the burglars in both incidents apparently were looking for office electronic equipment.
Ryan urged people to keep a "watchful eye" in the area of churches and to notify police immediately if they notice anything suspicious.
