UPDATE: Binghamton police Tuesday evening reported a city boy who had not been seen since Saturday had been "located safe and returned to family members."

Original story:

Authorities say an 11-year-old Binghamton boy hasn't been seen for two days and they are seeking assistance in locating him.

Binghamton police say Joseph Soto was last observed at his John Street home on the city's South Side around 9:30 p.m. Saturday.

The child had been wearing dark-colored shorts which he had been using as pajamas.

Police believe he changed into other clothing before leaving the apartment late Saturday night or early Sunday morning.

Investigators say Joseph has been known to frequent the area around the Town & Country apartment complex on Roberts Street on the North Side. He also sometimes goes to the nearby Cheri Lindsey Memorial Park.

Joseph has previously run away from home but he usually returns soon after leaving.

People with information about the boy may contact Binghamton police at (607) 723-5321.
