According to Broome County Court records, a Binghamton man is to be supervised on probation for five years after being convicted of writing thousands of dollars worth of checks from an elderly woman’s account.

63 year old Garo Kachadourian reportedly knew the woman for over four decades and was convicted in December of grand larceny in a non-jury trial for writing checks to himself and others totaling $13,000.  His lawyer says Kachadourian has no criminal record and planned to pay the woman back.

Kachadourian is to spend weekends on work duty through the Broome County Jail for one month.

An order of protection has also been issued on behalf of the woman.
