Binghamton Man Guilty in Shooting Incident Outside The Colonial
A Broome County jury has convicted a man on a felony weapon count in connection with the investigation into a reported shooting in downtown Binghamton.
Prosecutors say 26-year-old Craig Sander of Binghamton was found guilty Monday of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon and tampering with physical evidence.
According to the Broome County District Attorney's Office, Sanders illegally possessed and discharged a .22 caliber revolver on July 12, 2020. The incident happened outside of The Colonial at 58 Court Street.
43-year-old James Durham of Binghamton was sentenced to nine years is prison for his role in the incident. Durham had been convicted of a weapon possession count and related charges involving the same gun.
Sanders is scheduled to be sentenced June 14. Prosecutors say he faces between 3-and-a-half and 15 years in state prison for his conviction.
There apparently were no reported injuries as a result of the shooting incident.
