Binghamton Man Charged With Attempted Murder of Girlfriend
A Binghamton man is accused of slashing his girlfriend’s throat during a domestic incident May 22.
City Police Detectives say officers responded to a Chapin Street apartment at 7:39 p.m. and found a woman whose throat had been slashed several times with a razor had managed to flee to a neighboring apartment to call authorities.
Forty-five-year-old Shannon Callahan was seen leaving the building and was quickly detained.
He is accused of attacking the woman, pinning her down, slashing her with the hand-held razor and telling her she was going to die.
The 35-year-old woman’s wounds were non-life-threatening.
Callahan is charged with attempted murder and aggravated criminal contempt for violating an order of protection.
He was sent to the Broome County Jail.
