Police have arrested a suspect in connection with a pair of convenience store robberies on Binghamton's West Side.

Authorities say 34-year-old Lucas Pruitt of Binghamton has been charged with two counts of first-degree robbery.

Pruitt was arrested by detectives around 9 a.m. Wednesday near his West Side residence.

Pruitt is suspected of robbing a Kwik Fill store at 267 Main Street on the evening of March 9. He also is accused in a heist at a Speedway store at 63 Main Street on the morning of March 15.

Detective Captain Cory Minor said only cash was taken in both robberies. He would not comment on whether a gun or any other evidence was recovered as part of the investigations.

Pruitt was being held at city police headquarters for arraignment.
